Terms of Service
1. Who we are
onkoel is operated by An Phan, Lassallestr. 95, 80995 München, Germany ("we", "us"). You can reach us at support@onkoel.com.
2. The service
We host Koel, an open-source music streaming server, on your behalf. You upload audio files you own or are licensed to use, and we store them and stream them back to you and to the people you invite. We do not supply music, and we do not operate a catalog.
3. Your account
Standard is a single-user account. Pro and Max additionally give you an organization at your own subdomain, where you can invite members up to the limit shown on the pricing page. Members upload their own music and can play whatever others in the organization have shared. Max also allows guest accounts, which can listen to shared music but cannot upload.
You are responsible for who you invite and for everything done under your account. Keep your password confidential and tell us promptly if you believe it has been compromised.
4. What you may upload and share
You may only upload audio you own or are otherwise licensed to store, stream and share.
Some plans include sharing features, such as embeds and public links, which make a track playable by people outside your organization and without an account. Whether to use them is your decision and your responsibility: only publish material you hold the rights to publish. You must not use the service to infringe copyright, to distribute recordings you have no right to distribute, or to store unlawful content.
We act on valid copyright complaints, and we may disable a shared link, suspend an account or terminate it for breaches of this section.
5. Trial, plans and payment
Every plan starts with a 14-day trial. No credit card is required to begin it. If you do not subscribe before the trial ends, the account stops accepting uploads and playback.
Subscriptions are billed monthly or yearly in advance through Paddle, who sells as merchant of record and is responsible for VAT. Prices are shown in euros and include VAT where it applies. Each plan comes with a storage allowance; additional storage can be purchased at the price shown on the pricing page.
6. Cancellation and deletion
You can cancel at any time and your subscription runs to the end of the period you have paid for. After it ends, your library stays available for download for 30 days. We then delete it permanently. Export anything you want to keep within that window.
If a payment fails and cannot be collected, playback continues but uploads stop. If the account is still unpaid after that grace period, it is deleted on the same 30-day schedule.
7. Availability
We work to keep the service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may suspend it for maintenance, and we may change or discontinue features. The service is provided as is, without warranties beyond those that cannot be excluded by law.
8. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing here limits liability for intent, gross negligence, or injury to life, body or health. You remain responsible for keeping your own copies of your music; the service is not a backup of last resort.
9. Changes
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you, we will tell you by email at least 30 days before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new terms.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Germany, and the courts of Munich have jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer law gives you the right to sue elsewhere.
